Sydney Airport

Please go to our new interactive portal as this report will no longer be updated from October 2019.

Sydney Airport is located on the northern shoreline of Botany Bay, 9km from the central business district. A Long Term Operating Plan (LTOP) has been in place at Sydney Airport since 1996.

Sydney Airport has a curfew that restricts both aircraft type and usage between the hours of 11pm and 6am. During the curfew, aircraft that are permitted to operate are required to take-off and land over Botany Bay. The only exception to this is emergency medical services such as the Royal Flying Doctors Service or if a dispensation has been provided. More detail on curfew restrictions and dispensations is available at the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
