Gold Coast Airport is located at the southern end of the Gold Coast just west of the Gold Coast Highway adjacent to Bilinga Beach. To the west are the McPherson Ranges and immediately to the east is the Pacific Ocean.
Previously known as Coolangatta Airport, Gold Coast Airport has experienced significant growth in recent years, is one of Australia’s fastest-growing airports and is the fifth-busiest international airport in the country.
Although Gold Coast Airport is operational 24 hours of the day, there is a curfew in place which restricts operations in and out of the airport during the hours of 11pm to 6am the following day. Detailed information about the curfew is available from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.
Our easy-to-understand booklet, Guide to our operations, provides explanation about how air traffic control works and insights into everyday occurrences at airports.
